The University of Nevada, Reno Recognized With National Rankings
The University of Nevada, Reno was recently ranked amongst the country’s best colleges and universities by several nationally respected publications. The rankings were based from the University’s student experience, faculty achievements and ability to impactfully engage with the many diverse communities that we serve.
U.S. News & World Report recently released their 2024 Best College Ranking list and the University moved up from No. 263 last year to No. 195 among “National Universities,” and No. 106 among “Top Public Schools” out of nearly 1,500 total ranked institutions.
These rankings are done annually and are based on several criteria incluing first-generation graduation rates, first-generation graduation rate performance and Pell grant recipient graduation rates, among others. In addition, the New York Times listed the University of Nevada, Reno as No. 48 in its College-Access Index ratings, where the economic diversity of an institution is measured through the share of students receiving Pell Grants. The list covers the 286 most-selective colleges in the country, defined by Barron’s Profiles of American Colleges and other metrics and ranks them in order of economic diversity. The colleges, both public and private, together educate about 2.7 million undergraduates.
The Wall Street Journal also released its list of WSJ/College Pulse Rankings 2024 Best College in the U.S. The University is ranked No. 209 out of 400 institutions ranked. The WSJ rankings are based on student outcomes, the student experience/learning environment and diversity on campus.
The University has also been ranked No. 204 out of 442 institutions of higher learning for 2023 National University Rankings on Washington Monthly’s 2023 College Guide and Rankings. These rank four-year schools (national universities, liberal arts colleges, baccalaureate colleges, and master’s universities) based on their contribution to the public good in three broad categories: social mobility, research, and providing opportunities for public service.

The work of our entire University has never mattered more than it does right now. We are achieving on the highest of national levels and are furthering the University’s impactful work in such a way that lives are transformed and that future dreams can be realized.”
