Message from Interim Chancellor Patricia Charlton to mark the beginning of commencement season
As we reach the end of another successful academic year, I am filled with immense pride and joy in witnessing the achievements of our students, faculty, staff, and all those who have contributed to the success of our Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) institutions.
From the bustling campuses of the University of Nevada, Reno, to the vibrant halls of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and the diverse learning environments of our state university—Nevada State University—and community colleges—College of Southern Nevada, Great Basin College, Truckee Meadows Community College, and Western Nevada College—NSHE institutions stand as beacons of opportunity and knowledge. Each year, they proudly send forth a new generation of graduates, equipped with the skills, knowledge, and resilience to shape the future.
Here in Nevada, we have such a rich melting pot of cultures, backgrounds, and experiences that add to our strength as a state. Included in that are many first-generation college students and graduates who are blazing trails for themselves and their families, embodying the spirit of opportunity that defines Nevada. Their accomplishments not only transform their own lives but also inspire future generations and remind us the boundless possibilities that education can unlock.
