NSHE Board of Regents Elects Stephanie Goodman as Chair and Carol Del Carlo as Vice Chair for 2026–2027 Term
The Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) Board of Regents elected Regent Stephanie Goodman as Chair and Regent Carol Del Carlo as Vice Chair. Their one-year terms will begin July 1, 2026, and end on June 30, 2027.
“I am grateful to my colleagues for entrusting me as their Chair,” said Regent Stephanie Goodman. “My intention is to empower the Chancellor and our Presidents to do the important work of providing the many options of higher education to all Nevadans. NSHE can be better and through collaboration, Vice Chair Del Carlo and I will work with the Board to improve our work, processes and reputation.”
Regent Del Carlo brings nearly a decade of experience on the Board of Regents and a strong focus on student opportunity to the Vice Chair role.
“Students have always been my North Star in this work,” said Regent Carol Del Carlo. “I am proud to serve as Vice Chair and to support Chair Goodman, Chancellor McNair, and my fellow Regents as we work to expand opportunity and help more Nevadans benefit from higher education.”
The Board’s officers work closely with the Chancellor as NSHE advances system priorities under the Board’s direction.
“I am excited to work with Chair Goodman and Vice Chair Del Carlo as they step into these leadership roles,” said NSHE Chancellor Matt McNair. “Their experience and commitment will be important as we build on the work already underway and keep moving NSHE forward for Nevada’s students, institutions, and communities.”
About Chair Goodman
Regent Stephanie Goodman was elected to the Board of Regents in 2022 to represent District 13. Born and raised in Las Vegas, she is passionate about Nevada and deeply committed to making the state stronger through public service and education. A longtime communications professional and business owner, Regent Goodman previously served as Chief of Staff to the Mayor of Las Vegas, where she played a key role in the early redevelopment of downtown. She also leads the state’s largest nonprofit gambling addiction treatment center, working to increase awareness and access to behavioral health support. A proud UNLV graduate and former student body president, Regent Goodman believes in expanding access to higher education and ensuring that every student in Nevada has a clear pathway from the classroom to a meaningful career.
About Vice Chair Del Carlo
Regent Carol Del Carlo was elected to the Board of Regents in 2016 to represent District 9. She currently serves as Chair of the Association of Community College Trustees and is the first Nevadan to serve on the organization’s Board in its 55-year history. Born and raised in Reno, Regent Del Carlo is a native Nevadan whose commitment to education is rooted in her own experience balancing college, career, and family life. She completed her bachelor’s and master’s degrees while working full time, later building a 21-year corporate career with General Motors in roles spanning management, sales, labor relations, and operations. She has also been active in civic and nonprofit organizations. Regent Del Carlo brings to the Board a deep love of Nevada, a strong belief in public service, and a desire to support students in pursuing their own educational goals. Regents Goodman and Del Carlo will lead the Board in its ongoing work to support student success, strengthen Nevada’s higher education system, and align NSHE’s efforts with the needs of the state’s workforce and communities.
