Regents Mourn Death of Kenny Guinn

The

I was saddened to hear of the passing yesterday of one of Nevada’s true visionaries, Governor Kenny C. Guinn. His many contributions to our state as an educator, business and political leader, as well as community advocate have made a significant and lasting impact on the lives of thousands. Perhaps his greatest legacy was the creation of the Millennium Scholarship. Over the last decade, this scholarship has helped more than 59,000 Nevada high school graduates accomplish their dreams of a better future through a college education. Governor Guinn’s lifelong commitment to public service and the people of Nevada will not be forgotten. On behalf of the Nevada Board of Regents, we are grateful and honored to not only have had him as part of our higher education family during his time as interim president at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, but also as one of our state’s finest leaders. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Dema, and their sons Jeff and Steve and the entire Guinn family.
