NSHE Board of Regents Advances Leadership Transition at Nevada State University

The Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) Board of Regents approved next steps for leadership at Nevada State University, authorizing the selection of an acting president to guide the university during this period of transition.
The action follows a recommendation by Chancellor Matt McNair, developed in consultation with Board Chair Byron Brooks and Vice Chair Stephanie Goodman and informed by input from Nevada State’s campus community.
“This decision allows us to move forward with identifying an acting president for Nevada State,” said Board of Regents Chair Byron Brooks. “This step ensures that the university will have dedicated leadership in place as we continue this important transition.”
“Nevada State’s mission remains front and center,” said Chancellor Matt McNair. “We will keep students, faculty, and staff informed as we name an acting president. Our focus is a smooth transition and the continued success of the university.”
Former President Dr. DeRionne Pollard stepped down on September 5, 2025, to accept a national leadership role. Dr. Amber Lopez Lasater is currently serving as officer in charge.
