NSHE October Cybersecurity Awareness Month Webinar Series: Protecting Yourself in the Digital Age

In celebration of Cybersecurity Awareness Month this October, the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) System Computing Services (SCS) invites all NSHE students, faculty, and staff to participate in a series of virtual webinars. This engaging series is designed to help the NSHE community stay informed about the latest trends and threats in cybersecurity, offering both personal and professional insights.

The NSHE Cybersecurity Webinar Series will feature expert speakers covering a range of topics, from the impact of artificial intelligence to the growing role of cryptocurrency in higher education. Here’s a preview of the sessions:

Speaker: Jefferson Grace, former Detective, Las Vegas Cybercrime Task Force
Topic: Undersold and Overexposed: Underestimating Cyber Risk at the Dawn of Gen AI
This session will explore how generative AI has magnified the attack surface in cybersecurity and increased the potential for cyberattacks. Jefferson Grace will discuss the evolution of these risks, highlighting the consequences of Risk Acceptance and Risk Avoidance and the need for a shift in the culture around cyber risk.

Harpool will share stories from peer institutions and provide guidance on key risks, benefits, and decision-making factors.
