The Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) is proud to celebrate the one-year anniversary of its partnership to offer eduroam across the City of Las Vegas. This milestone marks a significant achievement in providing seamless, secure wireless internet access to students, researchers, and educators throughout the region.

Anne Milkovich, Chief Information Officer for NSHE, commented on the success of the partnership with the City of Las Vegas, stating, “We are thrilled to see the positive impact eduroam has had on the Las Vegas community over the past year. By providing secure and easy-to-use internet access, we are not only enhancing the learning and research experiences for our students and staff but also contributing to a more connected and technologically advanced Nevada. We look forward to partnering with more cities and counties across the state to ensure all our communities can benefit from this invaluable resource.”

eduroam is a global roaming internet access service designed for the international education and research community. In Nevada, it’s supported by NSHE’s System Computing Services (SCS) and available at no cost to K-12 schools and districts, libraries, museums, municipalities, and other education-adjacent organizations. Through its partnership with the City of Las Vegas, eduroam is available at all Las Vegas city facilities, with an average of 5,000 unique visitors using the service at city facilities a month.

“Providing our students, educators, and researchers with reliable and secure internet access fosters a more collaborative and innovative environment,” said Michael Sherwood, Chief Innovation Officer for the City of Las Vegas. “We look forward to continuing our partnership with NSHE SCS to further enhance connectivity and digital inclusion in our city.”
