College of Southern Nevada President Federico Zaragoza and Great Basin College President Joyce Helens have informed the Board of Regents they will not seek to renew their existing employment agreements when they expire on June 30, 2024.

In his message to the CSN campus, President Zaragoza noted, “I look forward to the next year at CSN, and I have enjoyed the last five years immensely. For me, you have truly become my family. During the next year, I look forward to continuing the work we have started and ensuring a smooth transition for the next CSN president.”

In her letter announcing her intent to retire, President Helens stated, “It has been my honor and privilege to serve Great Basin College and the Nevada System of Higher Education. “Home means Nevada” to me and I will continue to live in Nevada and be available to support NSHE and all our students to access higher education and training.” The Board of Regents will discuss any next steps in the possible search and appointment processes for both campuses at its September 2023. Board policy for presidential vacancies can be found in the Board of Regents Handbook at section 1.5.5 on page 10.
