Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) Chancellor Melody Rose and NSHE’s eight institution presidents are asking the higher education community to continue its safety protocols in light of the recent resurgence of COVID-19.

“We are urging everyone to continue wearing masks and to adhere to all COVID-19 safety protocols as directed by state and local health officials. Whether you are on campus or in your homes please ensure that any gatherings, meetings, or events be limited to those that are small, truly essential, and cannot occur in a virtual format,” stated a letter to be sent to NSHE’s campuses Friday.

The letter was written following Gov. Steve Sisolak’s statement on Nov. 10, 2020 indicating Nevada had reached a critical stage in the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We are imploring the higher education community to continue to act in the utmost safest manner in accordance with our state and local health experts and help to stop the surge,” the letter stated. “During these challenging times, we would like to thank each of you for your diligence and leadership in doing your part to keep the NSHE community and Nevada strong.”
