The Nevada System of Higher Education and the Clark County School District are partnering with Operation HOPE, a global organization that works to end poverty through financial education.

Operation HOPE will fund full time financial coaches at the Clark County School District, Nevada State College and the College of Southern Nevada to work with CCSD and NSHE staff and college students at no cost. The partnership is then expected to expand to NSHE’s other degree granting institutions.

“It has never been more important for our students and employees to have access to financial coaches who can help create pathways to financial independence,” said NSHE Chancellor Thom Reilly. “So many in higher education are weighed down by the burden of financial debt. That burden and the stress caused by it, is incredibly disruptive to achieving personal goals, including graduating from college. Teaming with Operation HOPE will provide the coaching, education, and protective tools needed to overcome financial distress.”

The NSHE Board of Regents will consider a Memorandum of Understanding with Operation HOPE at a special meeting on Oct. 18. Each NSHE institution would then have the ability to create its own partnership with Operation HOPE.

“CCSD is committed to ensuring our team members have the tools to succeed,” said CCSD Superintendent Dr. Jara Jesus. F. Jara. “This great resource will allow them to work with Operation HOPE toward financial stability at no cost. The partnership will provide invaluable education and coaching.”

Operation HOPE is a nonprofit organization working to disrupt poverty for millions of low and moderate-income youth and adults across the nation. Their focus is financial dignity and inclusion, by equipping young people and adults with the financial tools and education to secure a better future.

“Operation HOPE is proud to announce that HOPE financial wellbeing coaches will provide financial coaching to NSHE students and employees of CCSD and NHSE,” said Anita Ward, President Operation HOPE. “Through the HOPE Inside model, Operation HOPE coaches will build pathways to financial dignity for Nevada’s education ecosystem.”
