NSHE, Board of Regents Thanks UNR President Marc Johnson for His Service
The Nevada System of Higher Education and the Board of Regents thanked University of Nevada, Reno President Marc Johnson for his service as he announced Thursday he would be returning to the faculty at the university’s College of Business.

“For almost a decade, President Marc Johnson has led the University of Nevada, Reno to success in every possible metric. Under his leadership, UNR has grown by leaps and bounds. From student success to producing world class research, UNR’s reputation has excelled under President Johnson.
His service to UNR, the Nevada System of Higher Education, the Reno community, and the state of Nevada will long be remembered and appreciated.
I want to thank him for his leadership and wish him well as he returns to teaching with the department of economics at UNR’s College of Business.”

“President Johnson has led UNR with distinction and grace. He has left an indelible mark on UNR’s students, staff, faculty, and community that will be remembered for years to come. He led UNR to achieve the Carnegie R1 Very High Research designation, doubled the four-year graduation rate, and improved the six-year graduation rate to 61 percent. And as Provost and President, he led the University out of the Great Recession.
President Johnson’s leadership is responsible for enhancing UNR’s reputation, strengthening the university community, increasing student success, and campus growth. The Board of Regents thanks him for his service to NSHE and the Silver State.”
WHAT’S NEXT
In accordance with NSHE Handbook Title 2, Chapter 1, Section 1.5.4, the Board of Regents chair, vice chair along with the chancellor will visit UNR on Nov. 13, 2019 to meet with students, faculty, staff, and the university community and determine if they want to move forward with a national search for a president or consider an interim or acting president.
