Regents Approve Predictable Pricing Program for College Tuition
The Nevada Board of Regents approved a Predictable Pricing Program that will ensure students in public higher education are aware of the base tuition fees for at least a four-year period, so they can appropriately budget for tuition expenses.
The “Predictable Pricing Program” will base future registration fees and non-resident tuition for undergraduate and graduate students on the Higher Education Price Index (HEPI), an index that tracks the inflation college costs, on a four-year cycle.
The program will apply to all of the Nevada System of Higher Education’s (NSHE) seven-degree granting institions.
Regents Chair Kevin J. Page said this was an important step that will help the more than 100,000 students who attend NSHE’s public higher education institutions appropriately budget for tuition.
“College affordability and price predictability are important factors in providing access to higher education,” Page said. “This program will go a long way in helping students and parents plan for the cost of college.”
As an integrated system NSHE’s institutions, UNLV, University of Nevada, Reno, the College of Southern Nevada; Great Basin College; Nevada State College; Truckee Meadows Community College; Western Nevada College; and Desert Research Institute, can address all higher education needs from community college through doctoral and professional programs.
