The Board of Regents elected Chair Kevin J. Page and Vice Chair Jason Geddes to serve a consecutive year as the officers of the Board on Friday.

The Board of Regents leadership is comprised of a chair and vice chair who are elected by the regents. The term for the elected officers is one year, from July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2019, and the chair is limited from serving more than two consecutive terms.

“I am honored to serve the Board of Regents as Chair for a second consecutive year and I look forward to our continuing efforts to grow student access and success that will help meet Nevada’s current and future workforce needs,” said Page, who represents District 3 in Clark County. “We must continue to work together to provide our more than 100,000 students an affordable and quality education.”

Geddes, who represents District 11 in Pershing and Washoe counties, said he is inspired by the important and challenging work that awaits the Board.

“I am excited to continue to serve the Board in this capacity to advance public higher education throughout Nevada,” Geddes said. “I look forward to assisting Chair Page and the entire Board in advancing our goals in the upcoming year.”

Page, who received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from UNLV, was appointed to the Board of Regents in 2009 and was reelected in 2010 and 2014. He previously served two terms as chairman of the Board (2013-2014 and 2014-2015) and two terms as vice chairman of the Board (2011-2012 and 2012-2013).

In 2000, Page was awarded the Outstanding Alumni for the College of Business and Economics. In 2006, he became the youngest and only the second UNLV Alumnus to be awarded both the UNLV Alumnus of the Year and Distinguished Nevadan Award, which is the most prestigious award conferred by the Board of Regents.

Page is currently Managing Director and Senior Relationship Manager for Wells Capital Management-Institutional Investment Management Services and has held this position since 2000. He and his wife Patty reside in Las Vegas and have three daughters.

Geddes was appointed by Gov. Kenny Guinn to serve on the Board of Regents in 2006 and was reelected in 2008, 2010, and 2016. Geddes previously served two terms as Board chair from 2011 to 2012 and 2012 to 2013.

Born in Winnemucca, Nevada, Geddes spent his formative years in Gabbs. Through scholarships and a full-time job, he attended the University of Nevada, Reno. He also earned a Ph.D. from UNR in environmental sciences and health (environmental chemistry option).

He was elected to serve in the Nevada State Assembly in 2002 and while serving was an active member of the Education, Judiciary, and Natural Resources, Agriculture and Mining committees. Geddes and his wife Cindie are the proud parents of one son.
