Special Board of Regents meeting set for May 9 to appoint NSHE chancellor
Board of Regents Chairman Rick Trachok announced today that he has called a May 9 special meeting of the Board to consider the appointment of John Valery White as chancellor of the Nevada System of Higher Education.
White was named acting chancellor on June 3, 2016. The Board launched a national search in January 2017.
Trachok, who interviewed several semi-finalists for the position in April, believes White’s experience and track record make him a top contender for the position.
“As I was going through search process, I held John White as the gold standard for the characteristics and qualities we wanted in our next leader,” said Trachok. “I’m thrilled he is willing to continue in this role on a permanent basis and I look forward to the work he will do with the Board of Regents, our institutions, and our students in the years ahead.”
The contract and terms will be presented for Board approval at the May 9 meeting.
