NSHE receives Spotlight Award for Las Vegas building renovation

NAIOP Southern Nevada announced the Nevada System of Higher Education’s (NSHE) building in Las Vegas recently received a Spotlight Government Award for a redevelopment project.

“We were thrilled to learn the NSHE Las Vegas building was chosen as a winner of this prestigious award. This renovation project has managed to breathe new life into the UNLV campus community,” added Kevin J. Page, chairman of the Board of Regents.

The single-story building, located at 4300 South Maryland Parkway, was converted in 2014 from a former furniture warehouse and showroom to an office and meeting space for NSHE’s Las Vegas headquarters.

The building interior was built out to provide a Class A office environment, natural light via solar tubes and a 3,000 square-foot conference room to host public Board of Regents meetings.

Project team members included American Nevada Company (owner/developer), Neil Architecture (architect), The Vista Group and UNLV (engineers), and DML Construction (general contractor).

“This award is a testament to the creativity and skills of our partners in reimagining this structure and turning it into a beautiful, and energy efficient building,” said Dan Klaich, NSHE chancellor. “We’re proud to be one of the of the first redevelopment and reuse projects in the Midtown UNLV district.”

NAIOP recognizes local companies and projects through the annual Spotlight Awards.
