Regents name Dr. Marc Johnson as next UNR president
The Board of Regents today approved the appointment of Marc Johnson to serve as the president of the University of Nevada, Reno.

The Board of Regents’ Presidential Search Committee and the Institutional Advisory Committee selected Johnson from six semi-finalists and forwarded his nomination to the full Board of Regents for action at today’s meeting.
“We look forward to many years of outstanding leadership from Dr. Johnson as he continues to lead the University of Nevada, Reno at this critical point in the institution’s history,” said Jason Geddes, chair of the Nevada Board of Regents. “His academic, administrative, and leadership experience will continue to be great assets to UNR and our higher education system.”
Johnson, who has served as the university’s interim president since April 2011, will assume the presidency on April 20, 2012, receiving $246,427 in base pay, plus a $119,997 annual salary supplement provided by the UNR Foundation.
The Presidential Search Committee was chaired by Regent James Dean Leavitt and included Regents Cedric Crear, Jason Geddes, Kevin C. Melcher, Kevin J. Page, Rick Trachok and Michael Wixom.
The Institutional Advisory Committee included 11 representatives of the community and 12 representatives of the University of Nevada, Reno faculty, staff and students.
