Mahlberg named GBC interim president
The Board of Regents today unanimously approved the appointment of Lynn Mahlberg to serve as the interim president of Great Basin College.
Currently the college’s vice president for student services, Mahlberg will begin Nov. 1. She will replace Carl Diekhans who announced his retirement in September.
“Throughout her long career at Great Basin College, Lynn Mahlberg has played a critical role in the college’s growth and success,” said Jason Geddes, Board of Regents chair. “Her proven expertise in academic excellence and leadership will ensure that all internal and external initiatives at the college will continue during this transition period.”
Mahlberg has held the position of vice president for student services since 2001. She first joined GBC in 1991 as the director of admissions and records and has held various positions including affirmative action officer, administrative officer and dean of enrollment management.
She holds a master’s in business administration (management) from Golden Gate University, a bachelor’s of science in business administration (management) from California State University-Chico, and an associate of arts from Yuba College.
