NSHE Board of Regents Approves Appointment of Acting President of CSN
The Board of Regents of the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) approved the appointment of Dr. William L. Kibler as Acting President of the College of Southern Nevada (CSN).
Board of Regents Chair Amy J. Carvalho expressed her confidence in Dr. Kibler, saying,
“Dr. Kibler’s extensive experience in higher education, coupled with his commitment to student success, makes him a natural choice to lead CSN during this transitional time. His proven track record of strategic leadership and commitment to fostering a supportive learning environment will be invaluable as CSN continues to fulfill its vital role in serving students and the community.”
Interim Chancellor Patricia Charlton, in consultation with Board of Regents Chair Carvalho, recommended Dr. Kibler for the role. The recommendation follows engagement with The Registry, a renowned executive placement firm specializing in interim leadership positions within higher education. Dr. Kibler’s appointment comes at a significant juncture for CSN, as current President Dr. Federico Zaragoza prepares to retire effective June 30, 2024.
“CSN is such an important part of Nevada’s higher education landscape. It was vital for us to secure top-tier leadership talent to head CSN during the search for a permanent President. The Registry allowed us to do that. Their deep understanding of the higher education landscape and meticulous approach to candidate selection allowed us to make an informed decision in appointing Dr. Kibler as Acting President, ensuring continuity and stability for the institution.”
