The Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) Board of Regents has approved the launch of a nationwide search for the next President of Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC), a key institution in Northern Nevada’s higher education landscape.

“TMCC has long been a leader in providing access to high-quality education and workforce development opportunities in our state,” said Board of Regents Chair Amy J. Carvalho. “We are seeking a dynamic and visionary leader who can build on TMCC’s strong foundation and guide the institution through its next chapter of growth and success.”

The search follows the announcement by current President Karin Hilgersom that she will retire on June 30, 2025, after nine years of dedicated service to the college and the broader Reno community. TMCC serves over 20,000 students each year across multiple campuses and plays a critical role in meeting the region’s education and workforce training needs.

“We believe a national search will allow us to attract a diverse pool of highly qualified candidates,” said Interim Chancellor Patricia Charlton. “We look forward to welcoming a leader who shares our commitment to student success and will further TMCC’s mission to serve the community.”

The Board of Regents will soon begin the process of identifying a search consultant to assist in the recruitment of the next president.
