NSHE Honors Four Outgoing Regents
The NSHE Board of Regents honored outgoing Regents Andrea Anderson, Allison Stephens, and Anthony L. Williams and former Regent Cedric Crear on Friday.
“It has been an honor and privilege to serve with Regents Anderson, Stephens, Williams, and Crear who served the Nevada System of Higher Education with distinction,” said Regents Chair Kevin J. Page. “Each of them worked tirelessly to improve student access and success for those attending our eight institutions. They will be missed.”
In November three new members were elected to the 13-member Nevada Board of Regents which governs the Nevada System of Higher Education, its eight institutions, and more than 100,000 students.
There will be a ceremonial swearing in ceremony for Laura Perkins (District 1), Donald McMichael (District 4), and Amy Carvalho (District 12) at the Jan. 18 meeting.
Elected to serve a six-year term, the 13 Regents set policies and approve budgets for Nevada’s entire public system of higher education, including four community colleges, one state college, two research universities and one research institute.
The eight institutions the regents govern include: The College of Southern Nevada; Desert Research Institute; Great Basin College; Nevada State College; Truckee Meadows Community College; University of Nevada, Las Vegas; University of Nevada, Reno; and Western Nevada College.
