The SNAP Employment and Training Program
Providing Opportunity
The SNAP Employment and Training Program (SNAP E&T) is a federal employment assistance program through the USDA, Food and Nutrition Service, to assist Supplemental Nutrition Assistance program (SNAP) participants to receive individual targeted supports to gain the skills needed to find employment leading to self-sufficiency. Each state is mandated to operate a state SNAP E&T program, including Nevada. NSHE, in partnership with the Nevada Division of Welfare and Supportive Services, is a contract partner to provide the components necessary to assist Nevada SNAP recipients interested in pursuing education and training leading to a higher wage.
Eligible participants are provided support from our institutions in:
Assessment of skills, barriers and needs
Funding for Tuition, books and supplies
Life skills, work skills and financial literacy
Transportation assistance
Childcare assistance
Work readiness services

Truckee Meadows Community College
The SNAP E&T Program at Truckee Meadows Community College supports SNAP recipients in pursuing education and training that leads to sustainable employment. Through this program, participants receive guidance on career goals and individualized coaching to overcome challenges. Participants may qualify for financial resources for tuition, books, and supplies. Additional supports such as transportation assistance and childcare may also be available to help remove barriers to success.
