From classrooms to research labs to operational efficiency, the Nevada System of Higher Education is advancing how artificial intelligence supports our overall system
Artificial intelligence is becoming part of everyday life, and Nevada’s public higher education system is working together to understand its impact and potential. Through teaching, research, and campus initiatives, NSHE institutions are finding ways to use AI to strengthen learning, support discovery, and prepare students for the future. This page highlights system-wide efforts, shares resources from our campuses, and provides updates from the Emerging Technologies Advisory Group.
Emerging Technologies Advisory Group
The purpose of the Emerging Technology Advisory Group (ETAG) is to support the achievement of strategic goals by collaborating on:
Understanding the challenges and opportunities of emerging technologies.
Facilitating adoption of emerging technologies, by sharing resources and promoting professional development and training.
Providing recommendations for best practices and appropriate use in teaching and learning, research, workforce development, and operational efficiencies across NSHE.
AI Collaboration across NSHE started through different grassroots efforts at institutions, often led by faculty, learning technologists, or information technologists. The efforts to gain traction were stymied by the enormity of the possibilities brought by AI as well as the rapid evolution of AI change, with new capabilities and opportunities emerging almost daily.
As word spread of various AI efforts, individuals reached out to each other to collaborate and leverage collective strengths, forming a “coalition of the willing.”
