Regent Pete Goicoechea was appointed by Governor Joe Lombardo to serve on the Board of Regents as the representative for District 8 and was sworn into office on December 4, 2024.
With a prestigious career spanning over three decades, Regent Goicoechea has served in both the Nevada Senate and Assembly, as well as 16 years as a Eureka County Commissioner. His years of public service also include: State Land Use Planning Advisory Council (member); Nevada Grazing Board of Districts No. 4 and 6 (member); Central Committee of Nevada State Grazing Boards (member); and Nevada Water Resource Association (Director).
Regent Goicoechea is of Basque descent and is a rancher and lifelong resident of rural Nevada with his wife Gladys, with whom he shares two children.
