About

Regent Jennifer J. McGrath is honored to represent District 2, having been appointed to fill the vacancy left by the passing of Dr. Lois Tarkanian, whose service to the Las Vegas community and to NSHE is unparalleled and will not soon be forgotten.

Regent McGrath is a distinguished attorney and law firm co-founder who has dedicated recent years to advocating for survivors of sexual abuse. Her work focuses on holding institutions, including hospitals, schools, and physicians, accountable for systemic abuses, ensuring justice for survivors, and preventing future harm. One of her most notable achievements includes representing over 300 women in a landmark case against an abusive physician and the health system that employed him. This case—and others—solidified her reputation as a relentless advocate for justice and systemic change.

Having moved from Los Angeles to Nevada several years ago, Regent McGrath has sought to dedicate herself to the betterment of her adopted home state. Regent McGrath’s extensive experience as a civil litigator has given her unique insight into the challenges faced in the oversight of higher education systems. Regent McGrath is deeply committed to strengthening NSHE and protecting those whose lives it touches.

As a relatively new Nevadan, Regent McGrath is grateful for having been welcomed into the state and community and wants to focus on improving student experiences and outcomes.  Regent McGrath understands the importance of continuing to modernize the educational system to make sure that it prepares students in ways that meet the demands of a rapidly changing technological world and creating the kind of highly trained workforce that will power her adopted state into the future.

Beyond her legal career, Regent McGrath is deeply committed to philanthropic work. A lifelong animal lover, she supports numerous animal welfare charities dedicated to improving the lives of animals and their caregivers. As a proud member of the Board of Directors of Hearts Alive Village, an at-cost veterinary clinic charity in the City of Las Vegas, Regent McGrath continues to expand her mission of creating meaningful change in her community. Regent McGrath is also a proud member and supporter of Nevada Women’s Philanthropy.
