NSHE e-Learning Task Force

Mission and Charge

The Board of Regents in March 2013 directed Chancellor Dan Klaich to develop a plan for implementation of e-learning initiatives in the Nevada System of Higher Education, with a focus on the common goal of graduating more students while supporting student success. The chancellor has formed a state-level committee that he has charged with implementing two initial priorities: a comprehensive plan for remedial education modules in mathematics and English and a phased plan for “e-Ncore,” a program of general education master courses that are transferable to all institutions.

The NSHE e-Learning Committee is setting priorities within each task, evaluating and pricing alternatives, and crafting an implementation plan with the assistance of three faculty work groups. The committee’s work will include continuous consultation with faculty members and online education personnel at all NSHE institutions. The committee will report to the chancellor with a deadline of December 2014, and it was co-chaired by Chancellor Klaich and Dr. Mark Fink, associate vice provost for online education at UNLV.
