Below are a few of the fantastic things our students and faculty are doing in their communities and around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Students<\/strong> &#8211; Congratulations to the four graphic communications students and one recent Truckee Meadows Community College graduate who accepted <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tmcc.edu\/news\/2016\/03\/tmcc-students-awarded-11-local-addys\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">11 gold and silver local ADDYs<\/a> at the annual American Advertising Awards held on March 11 by the Reno Chapter of the American Advertising Federation.<\/li><li><strong>Faculty<\/strong> &#8211; University of Nevada, Las Vegas <a href=\"http:\/\/www.unlv.edu\/news-story\/engineering-professor-awarded-330k-epa-grant-research\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">professor Daniel Gerrity was awarded a $329,650 grant<\/a> from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to research human and ecological health impacts associated with water reuse and conservation practices.<\/li><li><strong>Research<\/strong> &#8211; This week, a research team from the Desert Research Institute, working with the University of Idaho and Google, unveiled&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.climateengine.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ClimateEngine.org<\/a> &#8212; a web application that enables users to quickly process and visualize satellite earth observations and gridded weather data for environmental monitoring and to improve early warning of drought, wildfire, and crop-failure risk. The announcement was made as part of the White House Water Summit, in conjunction with the United Nations World Water Day.<\/li><li><strong>Awards&nbsp;<\/strong>&#8211; Congratulations to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.govtech.com\/top-25\/Steven-Zink-.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Vice Chancellor Steven Zink<\/a> for being named one of&nbsp;Government Technology&#8217;s Top 25 innovators in the public sector.<\/li><li><strong>Upcoming Events<\/strong> &#8211; The University of Nevada School of Medicine has scheduled <a href=\"http:\/\/medicine.nevada.edu\/news\/archive\/2016\/april-socs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">free Student Outreach Clinics<\/a> to provide more services for the medically uninsured in Washoe County.&nbsp;A women&#8217;s clinic will be held April 2 from 8 a.m. to noon and combined general and pediatric clinics will be held April 12 from 6 to 9 p.m. and again on April 26 from 6 to 9 p.m. In addition, a combined geriatrics\/dermatology clinic will be held on April 23 from 8 a.m. to noon.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Thanks for reading and please have a wonderful weekend!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-right\">Dan Klaich<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Good morning!
