Medical and Dental residents and postdoctoral scholars are likewise required to participate in the Medical and Dental Resident\/Postdoctoral Scholar Plan as a condition of employment with NSHE from the date of appointment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Participation in the Supplemental 403(b) is voluntary, supplementary to participation in the mandatory plan, and cannot replace participation in the mandatory plan.&nbsp;You can begin, resume, change, or discontinue your contributions to the Supplemental 403(b) by accessing the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.myworkday.com\/wday\/authgwy\/nshe\/login.htmld?returnTo=%2fnshe%2fd%2fhome.htmld\">Workday<\/a>&nbsp;system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Participation in the Excess Benefit Plan is limited to those individuals who are not able to fully participate in the mandatory plan due to IRS imposed benefit restrictions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Managing your money and keeping track of your account is the function of the record keeper chosen by NSHE for these purposes,&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tiaa.org\/nshe\">TIAA<\/a>. &nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tiaa.org\/nshe\">TIAA<\/a>&nbsp;hosts the NSHE investment line-up and provides the online portal participants use to enroll in the plan, view account balances, manage contributions, select investments and take action.&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tiaa.org\/nshe\">TIAA<\/a>&nbsp;will issue your quarterly statement, manage the beneficiaries on your retirement account and provide you with personalized retirement plan advice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can obtain the necessary enrollment materials from your campus benefits office. To learn more about our plans and how to enroll, visit the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tiaa.org\/nshe\">TIAA&nbsp;micro site<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please note, prior to December 31, 2013 NSHE contracted with&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/fidelity.com\/\">Fidelity<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tiaa.org\/nshe\">TIAA<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.valic.com\/\">VALIC<\/a>&nbsp;for retirement plan record keeping. Participants enrolled any of the NSHE retirement plans prior to that date may have retirement assets at any of these companies.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"retirement-program-investments\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-scs-accordion nshe-accordion\"><button id=\"accordion-heading-retirement-program-investments\" class=\"vanilla-accordion nshe-accordion accordion-tab \" role=\"button\" data-target=\"#accordion-collapse-retirement-program-investments\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"accordion-collapse-retirement-program-investments\"><h3>Investments<\/h3><\/button><div id=\"accordion-collapse-retirement-program-investments\" aria-labelledby=\"accordion-heading-retirement-program-investments\" class=\"vanilla-panel accordion-panel \"><div class=\"accordion-body\">\n<p>NSHE provides participants with a three-tiered&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiaa.org\/public\/tcm\/nshe\/view-all-investments\">investment line-up<\/a>&nbsp;that provides investment options for everyone, from the less engaged investor to the investor who prefers to more actively manage their retirement savings. The tiered structure provides a simplified investment selection process, allowing you to make your decision based on your investment expertise and comfort level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of the ongoing monitoring process, the Retirement Plan Advisory Committee conducts comprehensive quarterly reviews of the investment funds available in the Retirement Program. Detailed information about Retirement Program investment offerings, including detailed investment performance results are available on our <a href=\"https:\/\/nshe.nevada.edu\/system-administration\/departments\/finance\/retirement\/investments\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"664\">Investments<\/a> page<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"retirement-program-social-security\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-scs-accordion nshe-accordion\"><button id=\"accordion-heading-retirement-program-social-security\" class=\"vanilla-accordion nshe-accordion accordion-tab \" role=\"button\" data-target=\"#accordion-collapse-retirement-program-social-security\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"accordion-collapse-retirement-program-social-security\"><h3>Social Security<\/h3><\/button><div id=\"accordion-collapse-retirement-program-social-security\" aria-labelledby=\"accordion-heading-retirement-program-social-security\" class=\"vanilla-panel accordion-panel \"><div class=\"accordion-body\">\n<p>Nevada is one of seven states that have voluntarily opted out of the Social Security system. This means that while you are employed by NSHE&nbsp;neither you nor NSHE&nbsp;contribute to Social Security and you do not earn a Social Security benefit. It also means that if you have previously earned, or at some future time earn, a benefit from Social Security, the Social Security benefit you ultimately receive may be affected by your employment with a non-participating employer such as NSHE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"retirement-program-rpa-committee\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-scs-accordion nshe-accordion\"><button id=\"accordion-heading-retirement-program-rpa-committee\" class=\"vanilla-accordion nshe-accordion accordion-tab \" role=\"button\" data-target=\"#accordion-collapse-retirement-program-rpa-committee\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"accordion-collapse-retirement-program-rpa-committee\"><h3>Retirement Plan Advisory Committee<\/h3><\/button><div id=\"accordion-collapse-retirement-program-rpa-committee\" aria-labelledby=\"accordion-heading-retirement-program-rpa-committee\" class=\"vanilla-panel accordion-panel \"><div class=\"accordion-body\">\n<p>The Retirement Plan Advisory Committee is tasked with advising the Chancellor\u2019s delegated authority on matters related to plan policy and administration.
