The Worker\u2019s Compensation program is administered by the NSHE Risk Management Office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The benefits provided under workers\u2019 compensation vary depending on the nature of the claim. In most cases, benefits are awarded without regard to fault.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under an accepted claim, medical benefits may include medical treatment, surgery, and prescriptions. Employees are required to seek medical treatment with an approved medical provider on NSHE\u2019s provider list, unless it is an emergency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group dark-content is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Report injuries as soon as possible<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) requires the reporting of work-related injuries that result in an in-patient hospital admittance <strong>within 24 hours.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Injuries that result in emergency care are to be reported to the employee\u2019s supervisor or appropriate departmental contact ASAP.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The employee\u2019s supervisors or departmental contact will be responsible for notifying Risk Management <a href=\"mailto:workcomp@nshe.nevada.edu\">workcomp@nshe.nevada.edu<\/a> or their respective institution\u2019s Environmental Health &amp; Safety (EH&amp;S) department if the employee is admitted as an inpatient to a hospital so that appropriate action can be taken.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Injuries that result in emergency care are to be reported to the employee\u2019s supervisor or appropriate departmental contact ASAP.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>If during normal work hours, call the NSHE Risk Management Office:<\/strong>&nbsp;(775) 784-3406<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>If after-hours, call your institution\u2019s EH&amp;S department.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n        <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n\n    \n\n\n    <div id=\"\" class=\"card-standard content-box default-shadow   \">\n        <div class=\"content-box-header\">\n            <div class=\"columns\">\n                <div class=\"column\">\n                    <h2>Workers&#8217; Compensation Claim Filing Instructions<\/h2>\n                <\/div>\n            <\/div>\n        <\/div>\n        <div class=\"institution-border\">\n            <svg class=\"border-block csn\"><rect  \/><\/svg>\n            <svg class=\"border-block dri\"><rect  \/><\/svg>\n            <svg class=\"border-block gbc\"><rect  \/><\/svg>\n            <svg class=\"border-block nsc\"><rect  \/><\/svg>\n            <svg class=\"border-block tmcc\"><rect  \/><\/svg>\n            <svg class=\"border-block unlv\"><rect  \/><\/svg>\n            <svg class=\"border-block unr\"><rect  \/><\/svg>\n            <svg class=\"border-block wnc\"><rect  \/><\/svg>\n        <\/div>\n        <div class=\"content-box-body\">\n            \n<div>\n<div id=\"\" class=\"impact-list-container    bullet-small\">\n\t<ol class=\"impact-list\">\n\t\t\n\n<li>\n\t<div id=\"\" class=\"list-content\">\n\t\t<div class=\"impact-list-icon\">\n\t\t\t<svg height=\"100%\" width=\"100%\" alt=\"\" class=\"list-svg-circle\">\n\t\t\t<circle cx=\"50%\" cy=\"55%\" r=\"16\"><\/circle>\n\t\t\t<\/svg>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"impact-list-text\">\n\t\t\t\n\n<p><strong>Seek Medical Treatment<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the injury\/illness is life-threatening or severe, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. If less severe, an employee injured should visit one of the preferred first-stop clinics listed at the bottom of this page. During the visit, the employee must:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Inform the treating physician that the injury\/illness is work-related.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensure that a C-4 form is completed by the attending physician. The medical provider will submit a completed C-4 to the employer to initiate the workers\u2019 compensation process.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Request a doctor\u2019s note (required) to support an absence from work under a workers&#8217; compensation claim.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/li>\n\n\n<li>\n\t<div id=\"\" class=\"list-content\">\n\t\t<div class=\"impact-list-icon\">\n\t\t\t<svg height=\"100%\" width=\"100%\" alt=\"\" class=\"list-svg-circle\">\n\t\t\t<circle cx=\"50%\" cy=\"55%\" r=\"16\"><\/circle>\n\t\t\t<\/svg>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"impact-list-text\">\n\t\t\t\n\n<p><strong>Report the Injury<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All injuries, including incidents where an employee does not require medical treatment, must be reported by submitting a C-1 form within seven days from the day the incident occurred.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Contact your supervisor immediately and report the injury.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Complete the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/dir.nv.gov\/uploadedFiles\/dirnvgov\/content\/WCS\/C-1.Notice%20of%20Injury%20or%20Occupational%20Disease.pdf?csrt=16586584691036089606\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">C-1 Notice of Injury Form<\/a>&nbsp;and submit it to the NSHE Risk Management Department (<a href=\"mailto:workcomp@nshe.nevada.edu\">workcomp@nshe.nevada.edu<\/a>) as soon as possible.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Review Nevada Division of Industrial Relations&#8217;&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/dir.nv.gov\/uploadedFiles\/dirnvgov\/content\/WCS\/D-2(07.25).pdf?csrt=16586584691036089606\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">D-2 Brief Description of Your Rights and Benefits if You Are Injured on the Job.<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/li>\n\n\n<li>\n\t<div id=\"\" class=\"list-content\">\n\t\t<div class=\"impact-list-icon\">\n\t\t\t<svg height=\"100%\" width=\"100%\" alt=\"\" class=\"list-svg-circle\">\n\t\t\t<circle cx=\"50%\" cy=\"55%\" r=\"16\"><\/circle>\n\t\t\t<\/svg>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"impact-list-text\">\n\t\t\t\n\n<p><strong><strong>If applicable, follow-up on medical care and light duty<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n\n<li>After each appointment with the treating physician, all medical certifications of work status (restrictions, full-duty release, etc.) must be submitted to the supervisor and the Risk Management department.<\/li>\n\n\n<li>Once notified of the availability of a modified-duty assignment, the employee must return to work on the date established by the department and\/or Risk Management office.<\/li>\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/li>\n\t<\/ol>\n<\/div><\/div>\n        <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n\n    \n\n\n    <div id=\"\" class=\"card-standard content-box default-shadow   \">\n        <div class=\"content-box-header\">\n            <div class=\"columns\">\n                <div class=\"column\">\n                    <h2>Supervisor Responsibility<\/h2>\n                <\/div>\n            <\/div>\n        <\/div>\n        <div class=\"institution-border\">\n            <svg class=\"border-block csn\"><rect  \/><\/svg>\n            <svg class=\"border-block dri\"><rect  \/><\/svg>\n            <svg class=\"border-block gbc\"><rect  \/><\/svg>\n            <svg class=\"border-block nsc\"><rect  \/><\/svg>\n            <svg class=\"border-block tmcc\"><rect  \/><\/svg>\n            <svg class=\"border-block unlv\"><rect  \/><\/svg>\n            <svg class=\"border-block unr\"><rect  \/><\/svg>\n            <svg class=\"border-block wnc\"><rect  \/><\/svg>\n        <\/div>\n        <div class=\"content-box-body\">\n            \n<div>\n<div style=\"height:1.5em\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Employees must be informed of their rights and responsibilities in the event of a work-related injury. When an employee is temporarily unable to perform some or all the duties of their regular job because of such an injury or disease, it is well established that recovery is accelerated when the employee continues to work. Based on this principle, the NSHE strongly supports early return-to-work options for an employee eligible for such assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cgb-scs-accordion\"><button id=\"accordion-heading-undefined\" class=\"vanilla-accordion nshe-accordion accordion-tab \" role=\"button\" data-target=\"#accordion-collapse-undefined\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"accordion-collapse-undefined\"><h3>Specifics of a Modified-Duty Assignment:<\/h3><\/button><div id=\"accordion-collapse-undefined\" aria-labelledby=\"accordion-heading-undefined\" class=\"vanilla-panel accordion-panel \"><div class=\"accordion-body\">    <div id=\"\" class=\"impact-list-container nshe-list-container bullet-small   \">\n        <ul class=\"impact-list\">\n            \n<div>\n    <li>\n        <div id=\"\" class=\"list-content\">\n            <div class=\"impact-list-icon\">\n                <svg height=\"100%\" width=\"100%\" alt=\"\" substantially similar to the employee\u2019s regular job in regard to location (within twenty-five miles of the regular position) and the hours (shift) worked.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n            <\/div>\n        <\/div>\n    <\/li>\n\n\n\n    <li>\n        <div id=\"\" class=\"list-content\">\n            <div class=\"impact-list-icon\">\n                <svg height=\"100%\" width=\"100%\" alt=\"\" class=\"list-svg-circle\">\n                <circle cx=\"50%\" cy=\"55%\" r=\"16\"><\/circle>\n                <\/svg>\n            <\/div>\n            <div class=\"impact-list-text\">\n                \n<div>\n<p>While working in a modified-duty assignment, the employee receives the same base rate of pay received while working in his regular position.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n            <\/div>\n        <\/div>\n    <\/li>\n\n\n\n    <li>\n        <div id=\"\" class=\"list-content\">\n            <div class=\"impact-list-icon\">\n                <svg height=\"100%\" width=\"100%\" alt=\"\"   \n<div>\n<p>A modified duty assignment in another department or at another campus does not constitute a transfer to that position.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n            <\/div>\n        <\/div>\n    <\/li>\n\n\n\n    <li>\n        <div id=\"\" class=\"list-content\">\n            <div class=\"impact-list-icon\">\n                <svg height=\"100%\" width=\"100%\" alt=\"\"   \n<div>\n<p>The employee\u2019s original appointing authority is responsible for an employee\u2019s salary and benefits while the employee is working in a modified-duty assignment with another department or at another campus.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n            <\/div>\n        <\/div>\n    <\/li>\n\n\n\n    <li>\n        <div id=\"\" class=\"list-content\">\n            <div class=\"impact-list-icon\">\n                <svg height=\"100%\" width=\"100%\" alt=\"\" class=\"list-svg-circle\">\n                <circle cx=\"50%\" cy=\"55%\" r=\"16\"><\/circle>\n                <\/svg>\n            <\/div>\n            <div class=\"impact-list-text\">\n                \n<div>\n<p>If a modified-duty assignment is provided in another department or at another campus, that department or campus shall report the hours worked to the employee\u2019s original employing department.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n            <\/div>\n        <\/div>\n    <\/li>\n\n\n\n    <li>\n        <div id=\"\" class=\"list-content\">\n            <div class=\"impact-list-icon\">\n                <svg height=\"100%\" width=\"100%\" alt=\"\" class=\"list-svg-circle\">\n                <circle provided in another department or at another campus, the original employing department remains responsible for personal issues.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n            <\/div>\n        <\/div>\n    <\/li>\n<\/div>\n        <\/ul>\n    <\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cgb-scs-accordion\"><button id=\"accordion-heading-undefined\" class=\"vanilla-accordion nshe-accordion accordion-tab \" role=\"button\" data-target=\"#accordion-collapse-undefined\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"accordion-collapse-undefined\"><h3>Conditions for offering an Assignment<\/h3><\/button><div id=\"accordion-collapse-undefined\" aria-labelledby=\"accordion-heading-undefined\" class=\"vanilla-panel accordion-panel \"><div class=\"accordion-body\">    <div
