{"id":3857,"date":"2023-07-10T20:06:56","date_gmt":"2023-07-10T20:06:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nshe.nevada.edu\/system-administration\/?post_type=news&#038;p=3857"},"modified":"2023-07-14T18:28:21","modified_gmt":"2023-07-14T18:28:21","slug":"two-nshe-presidents-announce-they-will-not-extend-their-contracts","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/nshe.nevada.edu\/system-administration\/news\/2023\/07\/two-nshe-presidents-announce-they-will-not-extend-their-contracts\/","title":{"rendered":"Two NSHE Presidents Announce They Will Not Extend Their Contracts"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/csn.edu\/\">College of Southern Nevada<\/a> President Federico Zaragoza and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gbcnv.edu\/\">Great Basin College<\/a> President Joyce Helens have informed the Board of Regents they will not seek to renew their existing employment agreements when they expire on June 30, 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In his message to the CSN campus, President Zaragoza noted, \u201cI look forward to the next year at CSN, and I have enjoyed the last five years immensely. For me, you have truly&nbsp;become&nbsp;my&nbsp;family.&nbsp;During the next year, I look forward to continuing the work we have started and ensuring a smooth transition for the next CSN president.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In her letter announcing her intent to retire, President Helens stated, \u201cIt has been my honor and privilege to serve Great Basin College and the Nevada System of Higher Education. \u201cHome means Nevada\u201d to me and I will continue to live in Nevada and be available to support NSHE and all our students to access higher education and training.\u201d The Board of Regents will discuss any next steps in the possible search and appointment processes for both campuses at its September 2023.
