{"id":32987,"date":"2025-11-14T09:19:37","date_gmt":"2025-11-14T17:19:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nshe.nevada.edu\/system-administration\/?post_type=news&#038;p=32987"},"modified":"2025-11-14T09:19:37","modified_gmt":"2025-11-14T17:19:37","slug":"nevada-system-of-higher-education-joins-multistate-effort-to-drive-economic-prosperity","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/nshe.nevada.edu\/system-administration\/news\/2025\/11\/nevada-system-of-higher-education-joins-multistate-effort-to-drive-economic-prosperity\/","title":{"rendered":"Nevada System of Higher Education joins multistate effort to drive economic prosperity"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-left\">NSHE working to set new goal for better-educated, better-trained residents\u00a0<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) is proud to announce that it has joined Lumina Foundation\u2019s State Attainment Collaborative, a multi-state initiative aimed at helping states set goals that expand access to education and workforce training, ultimately leading to quality jobs.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">This effort will build momentum toward <a href=\"https:\/\/www.luminafoundation.org\/our-work\/75x2040\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Goal 2040<\/a>: By 2040, three-fourths of adults in the U.S. labor force will have college degrees or other credentials with value that lead to meaningful careers and economic mobility.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through the collaborative, NSHE will work alongside education, business, civic, nonprofit, and policy leaders from 12 other participating states \u2014 Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland,&nbsp; Missouri, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Utah, Washington and West Virginia \u2014 to define what makes a credential valuable, update its statewide educational attainment goals, and align policies and programs to support today\u2019s students.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSetting strong educational goals is key to Nevada\u2019s future,\u201d said <strong>Chair of the Board of Regents Byron Brooks<\/strong>. \u201cBy joining this national effort, we\u2019re reinforcing our commitment to ensuring every Nevadan has access to the education and training needed to thrive in a changing economy.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis collaboration gives us the opportunity to take a fresh look at how we define success for Nevada\u2019s learners,\u201d said <strong>Chancellor Matt McNair<\/strong>. \u201cAs we align our goals with the needs of our state, our focus remains on creating meaningful pathways that connect education to economic opportunity and lifelong growth.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lumina launched the country\u2019s first national post-high school attainment goal in 2008, sparking a movement that led 49 states to establish their own state-specific targets.
