[Las Vegas, NV] \u2013 The Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) Board of Regents today appointed Dr. Amber Lopez Lasater to serve as Acting President of Nevada State University effective October 18, 2025. The Board also launched a national search for Nevada State\u2019s next permanent president and will partner with a search firm to assist the presidential search committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The appointment follows a recommendation by Chancellor Matt McNair, after consulting with Board Chair Byron Brooks, Vice Chair Stephanie Goodman, and members of the Nevada State community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNevada State is an important part of Nevada\u2019s higher education system,\u201d said Board Chair Byron Brooks<\/strong>. \u201cThe Board\u2019s actions provide a clear direction for the university\u2019s leadership and next steps in the search process. Since August 2025, Dr. Lopez Lasater has served as Officer in Charge, overseeing day-to-day operations at Nevada State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
