As a current leader within our Nevada System of Higher Education, his experience, passion for student success, and collaborative approach to leadership stood out throughout the search process,\u201d said <strong>Board of Regents Chair Amy J. Carvalho<\/strong>. \u201cTMCC plays a vital role in Northern Nevada, and we believe Dr. Alexander is the right person to lead the college into its next chapter.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The search for TMCC\u2019s next president was led by the Board\u2019s ad hoc TMCC President Search Committee, chaired by Regent Carol Del Carlo. Five finalists were selected and participated in public forums before the committee made its final recommendation to the full Board of Regents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe were committed to finding a leader who could build on TMCC\u2019s strong momentum while advancing the college\u2019s commitment to access, workforce readiness, and academic excellence,\u201d said <strong>Carol Del Carlo, Chair of the ad hoc TMCC President Search Committee<\/strong>. \u201cWith his deep understanding of our system and strong ties to Nevada\u2019s higher education community, Dr. Alexander emerged as the right choice to lead TMCC forward. We\u2019re grateful to everyone who participated in the process.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NSHE Chancellor <strong>Patricia Charlton<\/strong> also shared her support for the new appointment:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTMCC serves as a gateway to opportunity for so many Nevadans. Dr. Jeffrey Alexander brings the kind of leadership and innovation needed to continue that mission. He is well-positioned to build on the college\u2019s success and support students, faculty, and staff across the region.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Jeffrey Alexander will take office July 1, 2025, succeeding Dr. Karin Hilgersom, who will retire from TMCC on June 30, 2025, after serving as president since 2016. TMCC serves nearly 20,000 students each year across multiple campuses and plays a critical role in meeting the region\u2019s education and workforce training needs. The Board of Regents and the Nevada System of Higher Education thank Dr. Hilgersom for her dedicated service and for helping TMCC thrive as a cornerstone of higher education in Northern Nevada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>About Dr. Jeffrey Alexander<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Jeffrey Alexander currently serves as Vice President of Academic Affairs at Truckee Meadows Community College, where he leads the college\u2019s instructional programs, academic support services, and strategic workforce initiatives. A scholar and seasoned administrator, Dr. Alexander has held leadership positions at Pueblo Community College in Colorado and the University of Wisconsin\u2013Parkside, where he also earned tenure as a faculty member.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At TMCC, he has championed efforts to expand access, improve student success, and strengthen partnerships with industry and regional agencies. His work has supported initiatives such as open educational resources, credit for prior learning, and expanded certificate programs, contributing to increased retention and enrollment. He currently serves on the Nevadaworks Board and recently chaired the Western Alliance of Community College Academic Leaders.
