The Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) Board of Regents were presented with metrics from Great Basin College and Nevada State College relating to their performance in the areas of Access, Student Success, Closing the Achievement Gap, Workforce Education, and Research, at the Board\u2019s March quarterly meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The metrics were presented by NSC<\/a> President DeRionne Pollard and GBC<\/a> President Joyce Helens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe metrics associated with these goals serve as a benchmark for measuring improvement in Nevada\u2019s system of higher education,\u201d Board of Regents Chair Cathy McAdoo said. \u201cThe goals allow us to track our growth and improvement, which in turn assists the Board of Regents and NSHE institutions in making data-driven decisions regarding outcomes.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Chair McAdoo added the metrics help increase transparency and accountability for how Nevada\u2019s public higher education institutions are performing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cNSHE remains committed to improving our state\u2019s higher education system and monitoring these metrics will show what is working and where we can enhance our efforts,\u201d she said. \u201cI am encouraged by the dedication of our institutions to improve student access and success, especially during this time of tremendous challenges to the health and financial stability of our communities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n NSHE\u2019s strategic goals guide all eight NSHE institutions in supporting the state\u2019s growing economy with an increasing demand for an educated workforce.
