President Biden signed the bill into law on March 15.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are grateful to our federal delegation for their work in helping secure this much-needed funding for Nevada\u2019s public higher education system,\u201d Board of Regents Chair Cathy McAdoo said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nevada\u2019s universities and colleges received funding for facilities, research equipment, and training centers that will support mental health, workforce development, student wellness, medical, science, nursing, and STEM programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis funding will go a long way in helping our students realize their higher education dreams and ambitions,\u201d Chancellor Melody Rose said. \u201cThe list of projects and programs being funded are all critical toward NSHE\u2019s mission and educating Nevada\u2019s workforce of tomorrow.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chancellor Rose added that NSHE and its institutions enjoy a strong collaborative relationship with Nevada\u2019s federal delegation and this funding opportunity is evidence of those efforts. \u201cOur federal delegation has a keen eye toward higher education issues and have been steadfast in their support for NSHE,\u201d said Chancellor Rose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The NSHE projects and programs supported in the 2022 federal appropriations bill include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>System Wide Mental Health Needs Assessment: $2.6 million (NSHE)<\/li><li>HVAC training: $92,000 (CSN)<\/li><li>Advanced Manufacturing Lab: $223,000 (CSN)<\/li><li>Workforce Training Center: $2 million (CSN &amp; City of Henderson)<\/li><li>Climate Research Initiative: $2 million (DRI)<\/li><li>STEM Education: $975,000 (DRI)<\/li><li>Early Childhood Education Center: $1.6 million (NSC)<\/li><li>Flood Control: $2 million (NSC &amp; City of Henderson)<\/li><li>Student Wellness Center: $1,882,000 (NSC)<\/li><li>School of Nursing Technology Enhancement Bundle: $648,000 (NSC)<\/li><li>Nursing Facility Expansion: $2 million (TMCC)<\/li><li>Dental Facilities: $2 million (UNLV)<\/li><li>School of Medicine: $1.56 million (UNLV)<\/li><li>Electron Microscope for College of Sciences: $550,000 (UNLV)<\/li><li>Micro-Computed Tomography Instrumentation for College of Science: $500,000 (UNLV)<\/li><li>Public Health Lab: $3.1 million (UNR)<\/li><li>Commercial Driving Skills Program: $700,000 (WNC)<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":26,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false},"categories":[5,6],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-27","news","type-news","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-5","category-press-release"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/nshe.nevada.edu\/system-administration\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/news\/27","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/nshe.nevada.edu\/system-administration\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/news"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/nshe.nevada.edu\/system-administration\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/news"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/nshe.nevada.edu\/system-administration\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=27"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/nshe.nevada.edu\/system-administration\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/26"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/nshe.nevada.edu\/system-administration\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=27"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/nshe.nevada.edu\/system-administration\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=27"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/nshe.nevada.edu\/system-administration\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=27"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
