White Acting NSHE Chancellor"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Board of Regents today unanimously approved the appointment of John V. White as the acting chancellor of the Nevada System of Higher Education, effective June 3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The appointment follows the retirement of Daniel J. Klaich who served as NSHE&#8217;s chancellor since June 2009.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;John White has the intellect, administrative experience and temperament to serve the System well as acting chancellor,&#8221; said Rick Trachok, chairman of the Board of Regents. &#8220;I look forward to working with him in building bridges with the legislators, NSHE faculty and staff, and our community partners.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>White currently serves as strategic advisor to University of Nevada, Las Vegas President Len Jessup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m honored to serve as chancellor and am looking forward to working with the presidents and the Board of Regents to continue our mission of improving lives through education,&#8221; said White. &#8220;I intend to use this opportunity as a time to listen to our internal and external partners on how we can improve and thrive in this rapidly changing environment.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>White previously served as UNLV&#8217;s executive vice president and provost from 2012 to 2015.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prior to that, he was the dean of the William S. Boyd School of Law at UNLV from 2007 to 2012.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>White received his J.D. from Yale Law School in 1991, where he was a Notes and Topics editor for the Yale Law Journal and participated in the Jerome N. Frank Legal Service Organization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nshe.nevada.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/BOR-2a.pdf\">Click to view John V.
