{"id":1372,"date":"2019-12-05T18:43:00","date_gmt":"2019-12-05T18:43:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nshe.nevada.edu\/system-administration\/?post_type=nshe_news&#038;p=1372"},"modified":"2023-02-21T17:20:36","modified_gmt":"2023-02-21T17:20:36","slug":"the-board-of-regents-launch-a-national-search-for-unrs-next-president","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/nshe.nevada.edu\/system-administration\/news\/2019\/12\/the-board-of-regents-launch-a-national-search-for-unrs-next-president\/","title":{"rendered":"The Board of Regents Launch a National Search for UNR\u2019s Next President"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) Board of Regents officially launched a national search for the next president of the University of Nevada, Reno on Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>UNR President Marc Johnson announced in October he would be returning to the faculty at the university\u2019s College of Business in July 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The decision for a national search was based on a visit with the UNR community by Regent\u2019s Chair Jason Geddes, Vice- Chair Mark Doubrava, and Chancellor Thom Reilly in November. At the time, UNR faculty, staff, student and alumni groups along with other university stakeholders overwhelmingly agreed they wanted to see a national search for the next university president.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The UNR community said they wanted diverse candidates, with good communication skills, who is committed to the institution\u2019s high research and student success goals, Geddes explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Geddes added the search process will be open and transparent. \u201cWe will seek input from all members of the UNR community in this search process. I am confident we will find and hire the best candidate to lead UNR into the future.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Next, a search committee will be established as defined in <a href=\"https:\/\/nshe.nevada.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/file\/BoardOfRegents\/Agendas\/2019\/12-dec-mtgs\/bor-refs\/BOR-21b.pdf\">Title 2 of NSHE Code: Ch. 1 Section 1.5.4<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A recruitment consultant firm will also be hired to proactively seek out qualified candidates to apply, Geddes said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":1123,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false},"categories":[39,6],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-1372","news","type-news","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-39","category-press-release"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/nshe.nevada.edu\/system-administration\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/news\/1372","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/nshe.nevada.edu\/system-administration\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/news"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/nshe.nevada.edu\/system-administration\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/news"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/nshe.nevada.edu\/system-administration\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=1372"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/nshe.nevada.edu\/system-administration\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/1123"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/nshe.nevada.edu\/system-administration\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=1372"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/nshe.nevada.edu\/system-administration\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=1372"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/nshe.nevada.edu\/system-administration\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=1372"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
