{"id":1337,"date":"2020-04-07T14:17:00","date_gmt":"2020-04-07T14:17:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nshe.nevada.edu\/system-administration\/?post_type=nshe_news&#038;p=1337"},"modified":"2023-02-21T17:19:44","modified_gmt":"2023-02-21T17:19:44","slug":"nshe-regents-suspend-policies-in-support-of-students-facing-financial-hardship","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/nshe.nevada.edu\/system-administration\/news\/2020\/04\/nshe-regents-suspend-policies-in-support-of-students-facing-financial-hardship\/","title":{"rendered":"NSHE Regents Suspend Policies In Support of Students Facing Financial Hardship"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Due to the financial hardships many students are facing related to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Board of Regents voted to temporarily suspend certain provisions related to delinquent accounts for students facing financial hardships through September 30, 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis will allow students facing financial hardships due to this turbulent and unprecedented event to move their education forward,\u201d said Chancellor Thom Reilly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prior to the Board of Regents suspension of its policy, a student or former student with a delinquent account of $100 or more or an overdue loan would not be permitted to register at any NSHE institution. In addition, the student or former student with a delinquent account of $100 or more or an overdue loan would not be permitted to receive a transcript of academic record, a diploma, a certificate or report of semester grades.&nbsp; Suspending the policy through September 30, 2020, will allow students with delinquent accounts to register for courses and access their academic records for the summer and fall terms only.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students with and without outstanding balances from spring or summer 2020 who register for the fall 2020 semester will be required to pay the balance for their courses or have a payment plan in place by the beginning of the semester, under the temporary policy suspension.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis is the right thing to do for our students to make sure they have every opportunity to succeed,\u201d said Regents Chair Jason Geddes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":1265,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false},"categories":[34,6],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-1337","news","type-news","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-34","category-press-release"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/nshe.nevada.edu\/system-administration\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/news\/1337","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/nshe.nevada.edu\/system-administration\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/news"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/nshe.nevada.edu\/system-administration\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/news"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/nshe.nevada.edu\/system-administration\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=1337"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/nshe.nevada.edu\/system-administration\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/1265"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/nshe.nevada.edu\/system-administration\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=1337"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/nshe.nevada.edu\/system-administration\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=1337"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/nshe.nevada.edu\/system-administration\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=1337"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
