Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) Chancellor Melody Rose issued a memorandum to NSHE\u2019s degree-granting institutions regarding spring 2021 commencement ceremonies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The memorandum, sent to NSHE\u2019s institution presidents Thursday, allows for flexibility in creating a range of safe commencement celebrations, guided by health guidelines for each unique campus community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNSHE institutions may schedule limited in-person ceremonies, virtual ceremonies, drive-thru ceremonies or a hybrid combination of the above or other creative ceremonies to ensure that students, families, friends, and faculty have a meaning graduation experience celebrating their achievements,\u201d the memorandum stated<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The guidance follows Directive No. 41 issued by Governor Sisolak on March 15, which provided provisions regarding public gatherings that are particularly relevant to NSHE graduation ceremonies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Chancellor Rose cautioned that while the current trends in Nevada surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic are on a favorable trajectory, we must remain vigilant concerning a resurgence in the spread of the virus and its variants, as mass vaccination efforts are progressing but not yet complete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI am confident that NSHE\u2019s institutions will plan for safe and unique in-person commencement ceremonies to celebrate the success of our students in accordance with applicable COVID-19 directives issued by Governor Sisolak, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Nevada OSHA, and other federal, state, and county Covid-19 guidance,\u201d Chancellor Rose said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":1225,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false},"categories":[33,6],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-1223","news","type-news","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-33","category-press-release"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/nshe.nevada.edu\/system-administration\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/news\/1223","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/nshe.nevada.edu\/system-administration\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/news"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/nshe.nevada.edu\/system-administration\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/news"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/nshe.nevada.edu\/system-administration\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=1223"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/nshe.nevada.edu\/system-administration\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/1225"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/nshe.nevada.edu\/system-administration\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=1223"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/nshe.nevada.edu\/system-administration\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=1223"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/nshe.nevada.edu\/system-administration\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=1223"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
