Pollard&nbsp;to be&nbsp;NSC\u2019s&nbsp;8th&nbsp;president&nbsp;on Wednesday.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Board of Regents are scheduled to meet at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 29,&nbsp;when they&nbsp;will consider appointing NSC\u2019s next president. The meeting will be live streamed here:&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nshe.nevada.edu\/\">www.nshe.nevada.edu<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Biography<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Pollard is currently the President of Montgomery College in Maryland&nbsp;and has led that&nbsp;institution&nbsp;since 2010.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She&nbsp;was born in Chicago&nbsp;and&nbsp;earned a bachelor\u2019s degree from Iowa State University in 1993, a&nbsp;master\u2019s&nbsp;degree in English from Iowa State University in 1995, and a Ph.D. from Loyola University in 2005.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prior to being named president of Montgomery College, Dr. Pollard&nbsp;was an assistant professor of English&nbsp;at the College of Lake County (Illinois),&nbsp;where&nbsp;she&nbsp;served&nbsp;as acting division dean of the Communication Arts, Humanities, and Fine Arts Division, faculty coordinator for the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, assistant vice president of educational affairs, and vice president of educational affairs.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr.&nbsp;Pollard&nbsp;also&nbsp;served as administrative and instructional president&nbsp;of Las Positas College in California&nbsp;before&nbsp;assuming&nbsp;leadership of Montgomery College,&nbsp;becoming&nbsp;the first&nbsp;Black&nbsp;woman president of the&nbsp;institution.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Montgomery College, the&nbsp;largest community college&nbsp;in Maryland, offers more than 130 degree and certificate programs&nbsp;with&nbsp;three campuses&nbsp;in&nbsp;the state,&nbsp;serving more&nbsp;than 50,000 students annually.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As president of Montgomery College, Dr. Pollard expanded the&nbsp;infrastructure of the institution,&nbsp;launched the Montgomery College Innovation Fund,&nbsp;and developed and&nbsp;bolstered&nbsp;partnerships with government, businesses, nonprofit organizations, and other educational institutions.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">About Nevada State College\u00a0\u00a0<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Nevada State College, a four-year public institution, is a member of the Nevada System of Higher Education.
