{"id":1205,"date":"2021-05-06T17:59:00","date_gmt":"2021-05-06T17:59:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nshe.nevada.edu\/system-administration\/?post_type=nshe_news&#038;p=1205"},"modified":"2023-02-21T17:18:30","modified_gmt":"2023-02-21T17:18:30","slug":"nshe-drafting-plans-for-covid-19-vaccine-requirement","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/nshe.nevada.edu\/system-administration\/news\/2021\/05\/nshe-drafting-plans-for-covid-19-vaccine-requirement\/","title":{"rendered":"NSHE Drafting Plans for COVID-19 Vaccine Requirement"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Nevada System of Higher Education is currently drafting plans to mandate COVID-19 vaccinations for students, with some limited exceptions, who are returning to campus in the fall semester.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a public system of higher education,&nbsp;and consistent with the University of California system of higher education, any&nbsp;COVID-19&nbsp;vaccine&nbsp;mandated&nbsp;by NSHE is&nbsp;contingent&nbsp;upon the U.S. Food and Drug Administration&nbsp;first&nbsp;lifting the current Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) designation for available COVID-19 vaccines&nbsp;and requires approval from the Board of Regents and the State Board of Health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the EUA designation is removed, NSHE Chancellor Melody Rose intends to work with local and state health authorities to recommend that the Board of Regents&nbsp;approve&nbsp;a mandatory COVID-19 vaccine requirement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NSHE is asking all students and their families to be prepared for this possibility.
