Constance Brooks Named NSHE Vice Chancellor of Public Affairs & Advancement

The Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) announced that Dr. Constance Brooks has been hired to serve as the Vice Chancellor of Public Affairs and Advancement within Chancellor Melody Rose’s Cabinet.  In this role, Dr. Brooks will oversee NSHE’s government and community relations, strategic communications, and equity and diversity initiatives.

Dr. Brooks will begin her new role with NSHE July 29, 2021.

“Dr. Brooks’ breadth of state and federal experience in public affairs and strategic communications, along with her expertise in the fields of diversity and equity, make her uniquely qualified to lead NSHE’s efforts in these areas during this transformative time in higher education,” Chancellor Rose said.

Dr. Brooks previously served for over six years as the Vice Chancellor of Government and Community Affairs within the NSHE Chancellor’s Cabinet.  She rejoins NSHE after serving as the Vice President of Public Affairs and Diversity for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority and the Vice President of Regional Government Affairs for MGM Resorts International.

“I am very excited to serve the state of Nevada and rejoin the collaborative team at NSHE, working to develop broad support toward our mission of increasing student success,” Dr. Brooks said.

Dr. Brooks earned a Ph.D. in Public Affairs from UNLV in 2012.  She earned a master’s degree in social work with a concentration in administrative practice and planning from UNLV, and a bachelor’s degree in social work from Southern Illinois University.

Dr. Brooks is an adjunct professor for the UNLV Greenspun College of Urban Affairs, and has been involved in several community organizations, including Catholic Charities, Clark County Citizens Advisory Committee, Clark County Juvenile Justice Sister to Sister mentoring program, Nevada Humanities, and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.  She has also served on the Nevada Commission for Women, the Las Vegas-Clark County Library Board, and the UNLV Alumni Association Board of Directors.
