President, Nevada State Student Alliance (NSSA)
Nevada State College
Christina M. Barron is a senior at Nevada State College (NSC), majoring in Psychology and minoring in Deaf Studies. Throughout her academic career, she has been very involved with her campus, from working to establish a Deaf Studies minor which launched in 2015, to pushing for a Bachelor’s degree in Deaf Studies that was recently approved this past March. In addition, Christina worked as an American Sign Language (ASL) tutor for over 3 ½ years, led ASL club for over 3 years, established the InterVarsity Christian Fellowship at NSC, and is now serving her second term with the Nevada State Student Alliance. Prior to college, Christina had a career in banking where she held management positions, and is a cosmetologist by trade. Her future career goals include working in higher education while earning a graduate degree, advocacy work for the deaf in helping to improve deaf education in Nevada and supporting deaf awareness, and to run her own company and/or nonprofit organization. For now, she is looking forward to working with other campus leaders and is honored for the opportunity to serve her community and to continue being the difference.
